Home Town of Black Tea – Celebrates!

The First Fengqing Black Tea Festival-China was held from 04 to 06 of May, 2012 in Fengqing county. Fengqing is one of the top 10 counties of tea production in Yunnan Province. The theme of the event was ” Tea Ancestor’s Hometown, Black Tea’s Fengqing”. There were a variety of activities including competition in tea artstry, skills of tea-picking and tea tasting. There were a number of cultural shows, trade and investment related programs promoting this county as the Capital of Black Tea in China. Fengqing has the oldest tea tree in the world which is over 3200 years. There are over 20.000 mu (3295 acres) of wild tea gardens and 30,000 wild ancient tea trees. At present this county has a total 300,000 mu (49421 acres) of tea gardens, with annual output of 20,000 tons and 400,000 tea farmers.
