Pu Er Tea 2014

Pu Er, a city in Southern Yunnan Province, China was originally one of the main tea trading centers for the area. Over the centuries, teas that underwent a fermentation process came to be thought of as Pu Er teas. While other places in China make fermented teas, Pu Er teas have garnered tremendous acclaim by both tea lovers as well as tea investors. Some Pu Er teas trade for hundreds, even thousands of US$ per pound. Pu Er teas are found in loose-leaf form as well as compressed into various shapes. Raw materials can also differ resulting in a very wide range of flavor and aromatic characteristics. This Cupping Event will examine 10 samples, from different Pu Er production areas of different raw material types and of both Sheng (raw) and Shu (rippened) styles.
